The dropbox connector lists the files and folders under a Dropbox path: names, paths, sizes and modified times. It never downloads a file.
| Connector name | dropbox |
| Products | Records |
| Credentials | The portal's Connect button, or a Dropbox app's key and secret and a refresh token |
| Scope | files.metadata.read |
| Status | Preview: tested against Dropbox's documented responses, not yet on a live account |
What it pulls
| Object | Contents |
|---|---|
file |
Type (file or folder), name, path, size, client and server modified times, revision, content hash |
Credentials
Create an app at dropbox.com/developers/apps with the files.metadata.read scope, authorize it with offline access to get a refresh token, and give the SDK the app key as clientId, the app secret as clientSecret, and the refreshToken. Dropbox Business team folders need a team app.
Or skip the tokens: click Connect next to Dropbox in the portal (Settings → Connected systems), then run datayield connect dropbox --broker.
Connect
datayield connect dropbox -o clientId=<app key> -o clientSecret=env:DROPBOX_SECRET -o refreshToken=env:DROPBOX_REFRESH -o path=/ClientsOptions
| Option | Required | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
clientId, clientSecret, refreshToken |
yes, or accessToken |
The app and a refresh token |
accessToken |
instead of the above | A current access token, for a one-off run |
path |
no | The folder to list. Default: the whole Dropbox. |
New records on each run
Dropbox lists the whole folder on every run; files not modified since the last successful run are dropped on your machine. Folders have no modified time and are sent each run.
