What AI labs pay for manufacturing data

AI labs want production records that show how real plants run: work orders, quality checks, downtime and the fixes that followed. No public price list exists for manufacturing data, so the price depends on history, links to outcomes and how many buyers want your process.

What buyers want

Records your team already keeps

01

Production records

Work orders, batch records and changeovers over several years.

02

Quality history

Inspections, nonconformances and corrective actions, linked together.

03

Maintenance logs

Failures, repairs and what the team did to prevent the next one.

What public deals and research show

$200-$2,000

Typical price per checkable task. A recorded fault with a known fix can be turned into one.

Epoch AI, 2026

~$20k

Typical price for a working replica of a business app that agents practice in.

Epoch AI, 2026

We found no public sale price for production, quality or maintenance records. Ignore per-row figures until a buyer prices your sample.

The wider market

$203M

Data licensing contracts Reddit disclosed in early 2024, with terms of two to three years.

TechCrunch

$250M+

Reported value of News Corp's five-year content deal with OpenAI, including cash and credits.

Press Gazette

$10k-$100k

Per-company payouts for shut-down startups' Slack messages, tickets and email archives, across nearly 100 deals.

Forbes, April 2026

$200-$2,000

Typical price per reinforcement learning task, according to Epoch AI's interviews with people who build them.

Pricing factors

What moves the price

Event histories
MES and ERP audit logs turn records into episodes of real decisions, which price higher.
Outcomes linked
A quality problem tied to its root cause and fix is worth more than a list of defects.
Process rarity
Specialized processes are worth more than common ones.
Years of history
Longer runs of records show change over time and how outcomes played out, which a single year can't.
Rights you can prove
Buyers pay for data you own or are allowed to license. Data held for customers without their permission won't sell, so our calculator cuts the estimate when rights are unclear.

Our calculator

How we estimate manufacturing data

Our indicative model starts from a base value per system for about five years of history at an 11-50 person company, then applies a sector weight of 1.1x, your history, team size and rights. It is an estimate we confirm on a call, not a market price.

SystemBase value
ERP & operations$25k
Process, test & fab data$80k
Support tickets & chat$15k

Recurring

Paid again every month

Plants generate new orders, checks and repairs every day, so each monthly batch on a refresh term pays again.

Estimated first sale

$72k to $230k

$10k$100k$1M$10M
Then every month$2.4k to $7.7k

The first sale covers your history. Monthly income comes from new records the SDK sends once it's set up.

6. Where should we send your offer?

We won't share your details, and we sign a mutual NDA before any data moves.

Questions

Manufacturing data, answered

Do you need access to our plant systems?
No. You can start with an export, and our SDK runs read-only on your own machines when you're ready to automate it.
What about customer part numbers and drawings?
Customer names and part numbers are replaced, and anything a customer owns needs their permission. We check your contracts first.
How much history do we need?
More is better, but a few years of linked records is enough to start. The calculator shows how history changes the estimate.
